Forbidden Planet Review: Is It Worth It for Collectors?

Forbidden Planet Review: Is It Worth It for Collectors?

Comics, Manga & Collectibles Edition

The scenario every collector knows too well: You order a limited-edition manga box set or a rare Pop! Vinyl. It arrives in a flimsy envelope, corners dinged, spine bent. In one delivery, your "collectible" becomes a "used item."

This is exactly why serious collectors keep coming back to Forbidden Planet — the world's largest retailer of comics, manga, sci-fi and cult-entertainment collectibles.

📋 Quick Summary

🏆 What's Worth Buying

1. Comics & Manga
A massive catalog spanning Marvel, DC, Image, and every major shonen/seinen manga hit — One Piece, Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man, and more. Their Forbidden Planet exclusive variant covers are the real draw; many of these appreciate in collector value over time.

2. Figures & Collectibles
Everything from budget-friendly Funko Pop! to premium Hot Toys, statues, and busts. Since FP is an official distributor, you skip the "is this a bootleg?" anxiety that comes with third-party marketplaces.

3. Signed Editions
An underrated perk — signed books and graphic novels, often sold at little to no premium over the standard cover price. A quiet win for anyone building a serious collection.

📦 The Packaging Question

This is what collectors actually care about. Figures generally arrive well-protected thanks to sturdier boxing. Books and comics carry a bit more risk over long-distance shipping — bent spines and dinged corners are a recurring complaint in other reviews. Always inspect on arrival, and don't hesitate to request a replacement if something shows up damaged.

⚠️ The Downsides

• Shipping isn't fast. Careful packing means longer processing times — not the store for last-minute gifts.
• International shipping is weight-based, which adds up quickly on hardcovers, box sets, and statues.

✅ The Verdict

If mint condition and access to exclusive variants matter more to you than speed, Forbidden Planet is one of the best options out there for comics, manga, and collectibles. Just plan your orders ahead — this isn't a same-day-delivery kind of store.
